What Is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides a method to verify your identity by requiring you to provide more than one piece of identifying information. This ensures that only you can access your account even if it may have been compromised from a different application.

Please note: You do not have the option to disable MFA after enabling it.

To enable MFA, do one of the following:

Method 1

  1. Sign in to DocWeb.
  2. Click Enable MFA from the popup.

Method 2

  1. Go to DocWeb > My Profile > My Account.
  2. Click Sign-in and Security.
  3. Click Enable MFA in the Multi-Factor Authentication section.
  4. From the MFA panel, activate MFA and click Save.
  5. Log out and sign in again to be taken through the MFA configuration settings.
MFA Configuration

When signing in for the first time after enabling MFA, you will need to choose your authentication method. The authenticator app method is the default as it is regarded as the most secure option. You can choose to receive a text message instead. To access this option, click "I want to use text (SMS)" located at the bottom of the box.

Authenticator App (Most Secure)

  1. Scan the QR code provided on the screen with your preferred authentication app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).

  2. Verify yourself with your one-time verification code provided by the authentication app.
  3. Copy and save the backup code (VERY IMPORTANT).

Text Message

  1. Enter your mobile number.

  2. A six-digit verification code will be sent through text message to the number you entered.

  3. Enter the code into the field provided.

  4. Copy and save the backup code (VERY IMPORTANT).

Once you have MFA enabled and configured, each time you attempt to sign in, you will be required to provide the secondary information to validate it is you using the method you have configured.

Please note: The backup code will be used if you do not have access to your method of authentication.
Pausing MFA

You will have the option to pause MFA for 30 days. The setting will only apply to the device or computer you are currently active on when selecting this option. We only advise this step be taken if you are working on a device or computer that only you have access to.
